Food of Shakotan Misaki

CAPE MARKET (MISAKI NO ICHIBA)
This traditional market, conveniently located opposite the Cape Hot Spring (Onsen), Shakotan, is open throughout the summer period. In keeping with traditional Japanese style you may purchase local specialties such as ``potato dangos``, made from locally grown Shakotan potatoes, and fried fish cakes (made from fresh local Atka mackerel).
Sample the fresh grilled scallops and other shellfish, or sashimi (fresh raw fish) delivered that morning by the local fishermen. Taste delicious seaweed soup followed by another local delicacy, Shakotan steamed potato in butter, served with salted fish, treat yourself to these exciting and nutritious local delicacies. Your souvenir shopping will not be complete without a traditional Ukidama (glass float) to decorate your shelf.
